Application Note: 2018-2025 models ring terminal modification on VCMTUNER II

✅ June 2026 Production Update Any VCMTUNER II units shipped after June 2026 already come equipped with a pre-installed fork (spade) terminal. If you recently purchased your unit, this modification is not needed!

The Issue

Newer battery terminals on the models listed above utilize a different lock nut style. This can make it difficult to fully unscrew the nut when attempting to fit the standard round ring terminal around it.

The Solution

If you have an older unit with a round 12v ring terminal, you can easily modify it by cutting a small slit into it using a pair of wire snips (as shown in the reference image below). This transforms it into a "spade" style terminal.

Once cut, you can slide it cleanly underneath the smaller 10mm terminal, or fit it around the larger M8x1.25 nut on the opposite side of the battery post with minor adjustments.

Important: Performing this modification will not void the warranty on your VCMTUNER II unit.
